Brown and yellow together is an unusual color combo for me. I did not realize, when I was getting dressed on this particular day (not actually today - I rarely manage to photograph and post my outfits on the same day), that I just happened to be wearing the school colors of the university where I work. But what was even more serendipitous was the fact that this was a day when it would be very appropriate to show one's "school pride." So a lot of people thought that I had intentionally worn the school colors. Oh, well.Earrings: a little hole-in-the-wall shop, somewhere in Philly.
Bracelets: Mandee, I think.
Cardigan: H&M.
Dress: Chadwicks, overstock at Jomar.
Slip with ruffly hem: vintage, found at thrift store years ago.
Cable-knit leggings: Mandee.
Boots: Appepazza.
Oh, I almost forgot: I did my second post at Wardrobe Refashion. It's not something for myself, but a long-overdue gift for someone else. I'm trying very hard (well, hard-ish) to accomplish something from my project pile every week so that I can post something on Wardrobe Refashion every week during my 2-month pledge.

I love the necklace and the slip.
ReplyDeleteI think of yellow and brown at autumn (Fall) but it makes a great transition between the brown of winter and the yellow of summer.
I like!
I love the idea of the slip. It's so charming and really gives the wrap dress a whole new creative twist....love it!
ReplyDeleteIn the UK, I think these are Brownie colors too. (You might know them as Girl Scouts). Anyway, whatever, the look suits you & you make a very cute Brownie ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the necklace... and you're right: brown is great with yellow. I adore the dress :).
ReplyDeleteOMG, I saw your necklace and thought it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks Honeybunches. My Great-Grandma would be pleased to hear it.
ReplyDeleteJane, this did feel oddly autumnal. It's this wierd hot-cold-hot-cold weather that we've been getting lately. My brain can't keep up!
Nadine, so glad to have you back on the internet!
Penny, I borrowed the slip idea from Audi at Fashion For Nerds (Like I even need to reference her blog - everyone knows who Audi is, right? Too bad for any fashion blogger with the same name!).
Struggler: Yep, I remember those as Brownie colors for the Girl Scouts, too. I was a Girl Scouts Brownie, briefly. I think that the Brownie level is the one at which the Girl Guides and Girl Scouts are most similar as far as attire and age-range. Actually, I remember thinking the uniforms were kinda ugly. Maybe you've seen them selling cookies where you live now? I don't think the uniforms have gotten any better! The Girl Guides Brownie uniforms I just Googled don't seem so bad, though!
What a great necklace, my dear!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the brown and yellow colour combination, and it looks great on you.
xoxo
The way you have the colors here, they work great together. I think you have achieved a good proportionate balance between them. There are those boots I covet, again.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday Stephanie.
Those colors look great together! I've nvr thought to mix them! I'm all about yellow dresses! You look great in this!
ReplyDeleteGreat dress.
ReplyDeleteLovely colours together I think. And what a coincidence with your school colours!
ReplyDeleteSeeker, sallymandy, Lmac, and Mervat: I'm glad to hear you think the colors look good together. I wasn't sure about it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, WendyB!
Hey, Stephanie! I don't see your email here (maybe I'm not looking closely enough) so please email me at wbjewelry at hotmail dot com!
