School colors by accident

Brown and yellow together is an unusual color combo for me. I did not realize, when I was getting dressed on this particular day (not actually today - I rarely manage to photograph and post my outfits on the same day), that I just happened to be wearing the school colors of the university where I work. But what was even more serendipitous was the fact that this was a day when it would be very appropriate to show one's "school pride." So a lot of people thought that I had intentionally worn the school colors. Oh, well.

Necklace: hand-me-down from great-grandma.
Earrings: a little hole-in-the-wall shop, somewhere in Philly.
Bracelets: Mandee, I think.
Cardigan: H&M.
Dress: Chadwicks, overstock at Jomar.
Slip with ruffly hem: vintage, found at thrift store years ago.
Cable-knit leggings: Mandee.
Boots: Appepazza.

Oh, I almost forgot: I did my second post at Wardrobe Refashion. It's not something for myself, but a long-overdue gift for someone else. I'm trying very hard (well, hard-ish) to accomplish something from my project pile every week so that I can post something on Wardrobe Refashion every week during my 2-month pledge.

  1. I love the necklace and the slip.
I think of yellow and brown at autumn (Fall) but it makes a great transition between the brown of winter and the yellow of summer.
    I like!

  3. In the UK, I think these are Brownie colors too. (You might know them as Girl Scouts). Anyway, whatever, the look suits you & you make a very cute Brownie ;)

  6. Aww, thanks Honeybunches. My Great-Grandma would be pleased to hear it.

Jane, this did feel oddly autumnal. It's this wierd hot-cold-hot-cold weather that we've been getting lately. My brain can't keep up!

Nadine, so glad to have you back on the internet!

Penny, I borrowed the slip idea from Audi at Fashion For Nerds (Like I even need to reference her blog - everyone knows who Audi is, right? Too bad for any fashion blogger with the same name!).

Struggler: Yep, I remember those as Brownie colors for the Girl Scouts, too. I was a Girl Scouts Brownie, briefly. I think that the Brownie level is the one at which the Girl Guides and Girl Scouts are most similar as far as attire and age-range. Actually, I remember thinking the uniforms were kinda ugly. Maybe you've seen them selling cookies where you live now? I don't think the uniforms have gotten any better! The Girl Guides Brownie uniforms I just Googled don't seem so bad, though!

  8. The way you have the colors here, they work great together. I think you have achieved a good proportionate balance between them. There are those boots I covet, again.

    Happy Thursday Stephanie.
